Drawing on an international publisher’s perspective, this lecture will provide an inside view of the academic publishing process. It will explain how journals operate, introduce publishing business models and open-access options, and examine how peer review works, what editors and reviewers look for in a manuscript, and how authors can respond effectively to reviewer comments and strengthen their revisions.
The lecture will also address research integrity and publishing ethics. Through interactive scenarios, participants will explore authorship criteria and responsibilities. Elsevier’s policies on the use of generative AI by authors, reviewers, and editors will also be introduced. The session is designed to help researchers gain a clearer understanding of international academic publishing and enhance their skills in manuscript preparation, journal submission, and responding to peer-review comments.
